Levine widens TT Golf lead

BARRING a dramatic turn of events, Trevor Levine will reclaim the Trinidad and Tobago Golf Open trophy at the St Andrew’s Golf Course, Moka, Maraval today. The St Kitts’ golfer widened his lead from three shots to six in the Men’s Championship Flight after yesterday’s penultimate day of the 97th annual competition. Levine was the only player to return an even-par round of 72 for a three-day tally of 217. But Levine’s success contrasted sharply with the form of another pre-tournament favourite Carlos “Sexy” Baynes. Already three strokes off the lead after the second round, the Tobago-born Baynes had a four-over-par round of 76 to drop to joint third with 224. Robert Llanos moved from third to second after a one-over-par 73 yesterday while teenager Simon Merry also carded 73 to enter today’s final round of 224. Other golfers who will be looking to improve their scores today are Corey Hamel-Smith 225, Shane Costelloe 226, Douglas Ammon 227, Patrick Boocock 228 and Trinidad-born Barbadian Scott Stollmeyer 229.
