Roberts hits 75 against Preysal

EX-TRINIDAD and Tobago batsman Lincoln Roberts struck an aggressive 75 to lead Ceramic Merryboys to 261 all out against Clico Preysal at the Diego Martin Recreation ground yesterday. At the close, CLICO Preysal were 35 for the loss of one wicket, still 226 runs in arrears. Roberts was well supported by Denis Rampersad 45 and skipper Aneil Kanhai 27. Preysal spinner Barbadian Ryan Hurley took five wickets for 70 runs while Kevin Nanan, son of ex-West Indies spinner Rangy Nanan took two for 64. At Wilson Road, hometeam First Citizens Clarke Road United held the upperhand after making 201 all out with Kenton Thompson scoring 52 and Gregory Mahabir 44. And the Greenbacks have captured four PowerGen batsmen for 77 runs by the close. Mukesh Persad undermined Powergen taking three wickets for 15 runs with his off-spin, while Amit Jaggernauth took four for 57.

But still at the crease giving his team hope was opener Sherwin Ganga on 22 not out. At the Oval, newly promoted Couva Sports rattled up 282 all out against Queen’s Park, who were 17 for one at the close. Ashram Basheer led the way for the Couva men with 86 while Devon Nelson got 42. At Pierre Road, Charlieville, honours were shared as Alescon Comets scored 171 and in reply ,Tile It Central Sports were 102 for six wickets, with  Satish Naidoo scoring 51.  Nicholas Ramjass has so far taken five for 19. Matches conclude today.
