Warner’s CONCACAF man on FIFA again

LEADING Trinidad and Tobago football administrator Jack Austin Warner who is a vice-president of FIFA has been returned unopposed as CONCACAF representative (Caribbean Zone) on the FIFA Executive Committee for another four-year term. Warner has represented CONCACAF on the FIFA Executive Committee since 1983 making him the longest serving member of that body. His uncontested nomination was announced yesterday, ahead of the CONCACAF XXIV Ordinary Congress scheduled to take place in Grenada on May 2. Commenting on nominations made, the CONCACAF boss Warner said: “I am obviously pleased to have been nominated to continue my work at FIFA on behalf of this Confederation.

“I am equally pleased that in these nominations we see both unity and continuity within CONCACAF, essential ingredients as we strive together to promote and develop the sport of football throughout this region.” According to nominations recieved, Chuck Blazer (USA) has also been unanimously nominated by national associations which make up  CONCACAF’s North American Zone (Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico and USA) to serve a further four-year term as their representative on the FIFA Executive Committee. Nominations have also been received for each of the offices up for election on the CONCACAF executive committee, all of which are for four-year terms. Rafael Salguero (Guatemala) has been nominated to continue as CONCACAF vice-president, Central American Zone, and Guillermo Canedo White (Mexico) has been nominated to a full term as members of the CONCACAF executive committee for the North American zone. Captain Horace Burrell (Jamaica) has been nominated for the final office up for election at the CONCACAF Congress, that of member of the CONCACAF executive committee for the Caribbean Zone.
