San Juan Jabloteh beat Grenada XI
ST GEORGE’S: Caribbean Club Champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh, of Trinidad and Tobago, defeated a Grenada President’s XI side 1-0 in a practice match on Sunday night. The match was used by both teams as preparation for upcoming assignments. The lone goal was scored in the 68th minute after a defensive blunder. Defender Patrick Modeste lost possession of the ball and striker Kerry Noray was on target to slot it past goalkeeper Desmond Noel.
Both teams had other chances, including an opportunity for the President’s XI team to equalise in the 81st minute but Ricky Charles shot wide. San Juan Jabloteh are using the matches as warm-up for their upcoming CONCACAF Champions Cup quarter-final match against United States Major League Soccer (MLS) team Chicago Fire on March 17 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain. Former England international Ricky Hill, coach of San Juan Jabloteh, was reasonably satisfied with his team’s effort but acknowledged they are below the level he wants for the Chicago Fire assignment. “Some good, some not so good and some bad. Overall I felt on the balance of play we did fairly well, it’s a training exercise, we are gearing up to peak for next week. We’ve only been back in training collectively for two weeks, so overall we weren’t too disappointed. It was more positive than negative,” Hill said.
