Loose cannon at hospital
THE EDITOR: Imagine on Friday March 5 a particular doctor (who is not even a surgeon) arrives at the Accident and Emergency Theatre with patients to have examinations done. I understand he was told the day preceding that he was not going to be given the opportunity to do these cases, as the Operating Theatre had to be held for Dire Emergencies only because no other Operating Theatre was available to be used. All other real surgeons understood the request because of the situation with the Air Conditioning Unit, but this non surgeon did not. His behaviour was less than professional; he began ranting and raving in the presence of all HCW patients and everyone else who was within ear shot. The way he behaved, I thought I was on George Street, Port-of-Spain and not in a hospital.
On investigation I was told he always behaves in such an atrocious manner, he has no respect for any one, he is a stranger to the truth and he falsely accuses other HC workers. He plays the race card and the point is he is not even a surgeon. He should not even be in a Theatre to do those examinations. I was told this is the only hospital where this examination takes up Theatre space and time. I would like MPATT who is fighting to represent doctors to do something about this loose cannon before he gets someone in trouble for the way he behaved, if he had gone further I do not know what would have happened because I would have helped in giving him a sure cut-tail because he deserves such. Ag Medical Chief of Staff, President of MPATT do something before it is too late because provocation is against the law. Do not say you were not warned.
