WI play one for ‘Uncle Les’

KINGSTON, Jamaica: The West Indies players will wear black ribbons on their shirts, throughout the first Test match of the Cable and Wireless 2004 Series against England in memory of Lester “Uncle Les” Armoogam, one of their famed supporters who died earlier this year. The decision to honour the life of  “Uncle Les,” the Trinidadian who followed his beloved team around the world was taken by the players themselves. They also observed one minute’s silence at their team dinner on the eve of the first Test at Sabina Park. This is the first Test match that the West Indies team is playing since “Uncle Les” died after returning from their last tour to South Africa.
