Army netballers blast into All Sectors final

DEFENCE FORCE blasted their way into the knockout final of the Alternative Division Y in the All Sectors Netball League with a comprehensive 28-18 victory over TSTT. The Army-Coast Guard women held a 12-8 half-time advantage in Thursday’s 40-minute match (two 20-minute halves) at the Eastern Regional Indoor Arena, Tacarigua.

Goal-shoot Kerlene Sylvester scored 14 of 20 attempts, Donna Chase had eight of nine and Simone Edwards scored six of nine for Defence Force. Leslie Ann Legerton got nine of 12 and Sarah Hutchinson sank nine of 11 for the “Hello Girls.” Central Bank will face Defence Force in the final after being gifted their semi-final match when Printery defaulted.

Earlier, TSTT whipped Holiday Snacks 30-21, with Hutchinson scoring 20 of 28 attempts while Legerton had 10 of 14. For the losers, Helen Curden had 14 of 19 and Marcia Daniel scored seven of 13. The final will be on Monday at the same venue, when the Retro Division knockout final between Police and TSTT and the Alternative X finale will also be played off.
