TT players draw blanks in UK
Trinidad and Tobago footballers plying their trade in the United Kingdom drew blanks as their teams either suffered defeats or scrambled draws in the round of matches played on Saturday. Dwight Yorke was a 73rd minute substitute for Blackburn in their 2-0 loss to league leaders Arsenal. Stern John`s Birmingham City missed an excellent chance to enhance their hopes of European qualification when they lost 1-0 to troubled Leicester City.
The striker was brought on in the 68th minute but failed to make any impact. And at Goodison Park, Shaka Hislop was unable to prevent a Wayne Rooney strike in the 78th minute as Portmouth fell 1-0 to Everton. In Division One, Clayton Ince pulled off a string of fine saves but could not prevent his Crewe from losing 2-1 to Premier League promotion hopefuls West Brom. In Division Two, Wrexham had the services of all three Trinidadian internationals (Carlos Edwards, Denis Lawrence and Hector Sam) but were still trashed 6-1 by Peterborough. In the Scottish Premier League, Jason Scotland was brought on in the 77th minute for Dundee United in their 1-1 draw with Partick Thistle, while Brent Sancho played the entire 90 minutes in their 1-1 result with Aberdeen.
