Caricom neglected Haiti

THE EDITOR: Haiti, our so called “brother,” has been ignored by Caricom ever since its admission into the community. In my view Caricom is not doing much to divert their actions anytime soon. Instead of helping Haiti in their time of need Caricom has done the exact opposite. A family is normally there for one another, supporting each other in every way. For some reason CARICOM does not possess that characteristic. What they do is think to throw out their “brother” when he is in desperate need of assistance. Caricom to me is nothing more than a bunch of blabber-mouths, self-absorbed finger-pointing, lazy intellectuals with no sense of care for their neighbour member states. This is quite obvious from their ways of dealing with problems that arise around and among themselves. I thank the United States of America, along with the other countries for acting decisively and for contributing help, financial aid, manpower, food relief and in other ways to the people of Haiti. These countries include Canada, France and Chile. Maybe soon, the Caricom leaders will awake from their slumber and realise the need to help our brother state before their downfall.
