Game fishers coming for Tobago tournament

Over 30 fishing boats from countries throughout the Caribbean are expected to participate in this year’s edition of the Tobago International Game Fishing tournament at Charlotteville. The event is scheduled for March 25 to 28. The winner of this tournament automatically qualifies to participate in the sixth International Game Fishing Association (IGFA)/Rolex Offshore Champ-ionship carded for May next year in Florida, USA. Organisers of the event, now in its ninth year, have reported growing success epecially with respect to participation by the local fishermen as last year approximately 25 boats competed in the local fishing category.

A team from Charlotteville is also expected to participate in the professional tournament. The winner of this year’s local fishing category will be awarded a deep freezer worth $4,000 courtesy Lewis Appliances. Special prizes will also be awarded to the best lady and junior anglers. Sponsors for this event include, Corona Extra Beer, Almandoz Hardware Limited and the THA Deparment of Tourism.
