Judge refuses bail for Lance Small

Muslimeen member Clive Lancelot Small aka Olive Small and Olive Enyahooma-El was again refused bail yesterday, this time by High Court judge Justice Carlton Best. Small is expected to challenge Best’s ruling before a Court of Appeal judge. Small is in custody pending an extradition hearing filed by the USA where he is wanted on gun running charges. Small’s attorney Pamela Elder SC, was hoping to persuade Best to grant her client bail, especially in light of her getting leave from the  High Court on Tuesday to  pursue a judicial review application against the extradition proceedings before Chief Magistrate Sherman Mc Nicolls.

Justice Sebastian Ventour also granted a stay of the extradition proceedings until the review application is determined. The bail application which took place in-camera (private) was resisted by attorney Douglas Mendes SC and David West, representing the State. The extradition matter  which was listed to go on before Mc Nicolls yesterday was adjourned until the judicial review application is  heard on March 31.
