Reifer leads Barbados Carib Beer fightback
CRAB HILL, Barbados: Jamaica, set 200 runs to win, were 69 for six in their second innings when stumps were drawn on the penultimate day of the final in the Carib Beer 2004 Cricket Series yesterday. Resuming on 149 for five wickets only 33 runs ahead and seeming about to surrender their title, Floyd Reifer led a tremendous Barbados fightback with 83 to lift his team’s second innings total to 315 all out.
And skipper Courtney Browne hit a defiant 47, while Ryan Hinds chipped in with a valuable 25. Starting their quest for victory, the Jamaicans ran into some devastating bowling by pacers Corey Collymore who took three wickets for 19 runs, and Ian Bradshaw who took two for three. Jamaica still require another 131 runs for victory with only four wickets standing.
