High marks for Macoya coaching course

The FA International Coaching Licence Course ended on a high note recently with the participating coaches claiming that it was “the best ever.” In giving the vote of thanks at the closing ceremony, Izler Browne, the lone female participant praised the FA Instructors for the tremendous effort that they made. “It was a great course although it was a bit demanding.  We learned a lot and I am sure it will  bring great benefits to our respective countries. I want to thank CONCACAF and the FA for giving us this opportunity to become better coaches,” she said. Thirty coaches from 18 CONCACAF countries attended the nine-day course which included both the written and practical examinations. Steve Rutter, FA instructor spoke on behalf of himself and his colleague Roger Soper and he gave high marks to the staff at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence.

“The organisation of this course was top notch and the hospitality has been excellent. This facility is ideal for courses such as this and Roger and I enjoyed the experience,” he said. Participants were housed at the Sportel Inn at the Centre of Excellence and field sessions were conducted at the adjoining Marvin Lee Stadium. General Secretary of the Caribbean Football Union, Harold Taylor, expressed his gratitude to the English FA for their continuing support of the CONCACAF Development Programme. “I want to thank Roger and Steve for the great job they are doing and I also want to thank the FA for their continuing support of CONCACAF. It is a relationship that continues to grow from strength to strength every year,” Taylor said. The next FA sponsored event takes place in May with a four-day workshop on “Physical Preparation and Conditioning.” This will be conducted by  Dr Richard Hawkins. Prior to this, FIFA Instructor, Alvin Corneal, will conducted a CONCACAF Licence  Course in April (11th -17th ) for regional coaches.
