TT Cup kicks off at Ato Boldon Stadium
DEFENDING CHAMPIONS W Connection will oppose Cap Off Youths in an Under-17 Division clash from 2 pm today as the 2004 Trinidad and Tobago Cup begins. The match will be played at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. The tournament, which is expected to unearth a number of young footballing talent, will get going with four matches at the Couva venue today.
Ste Madeleine will meet St Mary’s Central at 9 am on the training field, while Palo Seco Youths face off against Spitfire FC at 10 am and SS Rangers battling Trinpro at 4 pm, both on the main field. But the feature of today’s proceedings will be a march past of teams at 1.30 pm, with Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) president Oliver Camps and Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Roger Boynes expected to attend.
Thirty two teams will participate in the U-17 age group while 24 squads will compete in the U-15 category. The national U-19 women squad will also be involved in the competition, this time in the U-15s, as they prepare for the CONCACAF U-19 World Cup qualifying series in Canada next month. A full slate of matches will be contested tomorrow at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo; the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima; the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Mara-bella and at Couva.
