PBR passes for Lara, Machel and Jack Warner

The list of names of persons holding permanent and temporary passes for the Priority Bus Route (PBR) was yesterday made public in the Senate in response to a question from UNC Senator Sadiq Baksh to Works and Transport Minister Franklyn Khan in the Senate. The nine page list of temporary pass holders includes persons listed in categories like medical practitioners/institutions, unions, religious leaders, local government officials, senior government officials/ministries and other individuals. Among the dozens listed with temporary passes under the heading “others” are entertainer Machel Montano, Ken Julien, John Commissiong, Ralph Maraj, Rani Narace, Jack Warner and his son Daryan and Rain Newel Lewis.

The national icons who have passes are Darrel Brown, Hasley Crawford, Leroy Clarke and Brian Lara. Several organisations, including media houses, also have special passes. And under the category “Captains of Industries,” there are the likes of Ken Gordon, Rose Janniere and Ian Gillette. Under “Senior Government Officials/Ministries” few names were mentioned, with the listing simply showing the ministries to which the passes were issued. In most cases a maximum of four passes was issued to the individual ministry, except in the case of the Ministry of National Security where the list shows 13 PBR passes were issued. The list indicated that the temporary passes were issued with effect form January this year. Cabinet in October 2001 agreed to issue permanent passes to several office holders, including those of President and former President, MPs, members of the judiciary/magistracy and Industrial Court, Permanent Secretaries and High Commissioners.
