Defence Force march on in PoSNL

DEFENCE FORCE continued their winning form in the Pearl Francis Championship Division of the Port-of-Spain Netball League, outclassing Arima United 40-23 at the Lystra Lewis Courts, Princes Building. The game on Tuesday was over as a contest from the first quarter which the Army-Coast Guard women led 15-6. National goal-shoot Anastascia Wilson had 31 goals from 40 attempts and Diana Pierre nine of 14 for the winners, while another national goal-shoot Janelle Barker was her usual accurate self slotting in 20 of 26 attempts and Jacqueline Morris added three of seven. In Phyllis Pierre-Walker A2 Division action, Hampton Jesters used four shots but still were not able to contain San Juan Jabloteh who whipped them 53-33.

Julia Britto scored 29 of 39 attempts and Joycelyn Marcelle had 24 of 31 for Jabloteh.  Margaret Jack 20, Coreen Edwards seven, Sherry Ann John 4 and J Brewster two scored for Jesters. Defence Force were also in the winning lane in Lady Erna Reece Intermediate 1 Division when they beat Chips 29-20 led by Melissa Roberts 18 goals from 19 attempts and Beverly Roberts with 11 of 15.  Joelisa Cooper got 14 of 18 and Lee Ann O’Brian six of 15 for the beaten team. Mucurapo Junior Secondary held off Trendsetters 33-24 with Afeisha Noel scoring 22 of 29 attempts and Nariba Grant 11 of 20.  Giselle Navarro 20 of 32 and Jahlana Lewis four of eight got the goals for the losing team. And Arima Ball Masters snuffed out Netaces 37-10 in a one-sided affair with Marissa Snaggs scoring 27 of 35 attempts and Giselle Hobson 10 of 13 for the winners.Netaces got five goals from Karen Sandiford, three from Pamela James and two from Marissa Lewis.
