NWRHA gets $2.3M equipment today

Health Minister John Rahael will today hand over more than $2.3 million in neonatal equipment to the North West Regional Health Authority, at building 70, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope. The equipment has been earmarked for the neonatal unit of Mt Hope Women’s Hospital.

The purchase of new equipment is the result of investigations last year into the outbreak of enterobacter bacteria at the neonatal unit and a report from the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) on neonatal units which found deficiencies in several areas. PAHO also advised the Ministry to expedite plans for refurbishing and extending nurseries.
