Hadeed back on racing chair
Trinidad and Tobago Racing Authority Board is now in place and ready to serve the sport of horseracing. The names recommended to serve the new term were ratified by Cabinet last week and members are expected to receive their instruments of appointment soon. Joseph Hadeed was re-appointed chairman of the new Board, which comprises six members from the past team. The retired trainer will again have as his deputy Dr David Kangaloo. Other members in the team are Robert Bernard, Selwyn Raymond, Rolf Bartolo, Ronald Mathieu, Richard Freeman, and Tyrone Kowlessar.
Freeman and Tyrone Kowlessar replaced Dr Rupert Indar, who indicated he no longer wanted to serve and Roland Kowlessar has since resigned. Missing from the line-up is the Ministry of Finance appointee. Hadeed, when contacted yesterday said he was notified of his appointment and stated the ministry wrote the Secretary of the TTRA , David Loregnard, giving clearance for the board to function. Hadeed said Loregnard is out of the country and is expected on Monday. “As soon as he returns we will be meeting with him to put things in place to schedule meetings,” he said.
Hadeed claimed that the Board can function without the ministry’s representative. “We can function once we have a caucus of five members,” he said. The former top trainer said he was happy to serve another term and was satisfied with the other appointeees. “Racing was good to me.” he said. “We have a board of knowledgeable members who will serve racing well and keep the integrity of racing at the highest standard.”
