Give him the Knight’s honour

THE EDITOR: Brian Charles Lara has done it! Again!!! Never in the history of Test Cricket has one man broken two world records.  A lot of people have been suggesting that he be given the President’s House, he should be named the King of Trinidad, he should be given a bedroom in Buckingham Palace, have the Airport named after him, given BCL 400 to drive, be exempted from all taxes, and the list goes on.

These material things will soon decay. The abstract awards will be recognised and beneficial only in Trinidad and Tobago. So while these awards may be unprecedented, they are limited to our country. The world is in awe of Brian Charles Lara and the world should be given the opportunity to respect this astounding man. It is in this vein I would like to suggest that Brian Charles Lara be given the knight’s honour. This will certainly give the world a chance to address him as “Sir.” Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean and the world is proud of Brian Lara. Give us all a chance to honour him in this way.
