Still no water in Arima

THE EDITOR: Once again the residents of Arima are victims of WASA. For the past five weeks we the burgesses of what is called the only chartered Borough in Trinidad, have been without a regular supply of water. For over thirty years Arima has been plagued with this problem and repeated calls to the main office and other branch offices have been of no use. Even when there is heavy rainfall there no no water in the taps and the excuse from WASA is that the filtering machinery is still not functioning properly and a lot of sediment and mud comes through the pipes.

What utter nonsense! In a country rich in oil and where the present government is offering help to Haiti, who really cares about the plight of the residents? As for our Prime Minister who is inviting the ousted Haitian minister, they should pay a visit to our own little Haiti — Trainline Road, Pinto in Arima — where there is squalour and dust, one cannot tell the stray dogs from the children suffering without water for months.
