‘Lime’ feature can be painted Super Grey

SUPER GREY can continue his fine run of form by taking the feature Brian Lara Starter Allowance at the Arima Race Club “Friday Lime” at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, today. Turfites will be hoping that Super Grey is in the same kind of condition as he was at racing headquarters in March when he recorded a three and a half length victory to secure a hat-trick. This Jamaica-bred grey gelding was highly thought of as a three-year-old and was considered a classic candidate last year, but never lived up to the high expectations.

But since turning four he has dropped his rougish tendencies and has begun to realise his true potential after he was gelded. In his most recent appearance on the track, Super Grey did not give his backers any anxious moments as Brian Harding, who has teamed up with him in all three successes, brought him with a well-timed run to easily beat Squee Zintru. The runner-up has since franked the form by scooting home in an Optional Claiming $20,000 contest on Easter Monday. The son of Domino Jack/Youlanda earlier scored a double in February and is worth the nap selection to carry the sequence further in today’s 1725 metres race on the turf course, on today’s  nine-race programme honouring West Indies cricket captain Brian Lara, who scored 400 runs not out  in the final Test against England in Antigua, to regain his world record for the most runs in a Test innings by an individual.

Also invited to the Lime, expected to break an attendance record are cricketers from the English and West Indies teams who will compete in two one-day internationals at the Queen’s Park Oval tomorrow and Sunday. And in keeping with the cricket theme the ARC have framed all the events in the names of past and present cricketers of both teams.
