$200,000 in cricket ticket refunds at Oval

OVER $200,000 were handed out yesterday to ticket holders of the second and third Cable and Wireless One-Day Internationals between the West Indies and England at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain last weekend. According to a senior ticket agent at the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Ticket Office at the Oval: “We gave out in excess of $200,000 but we were expected to give out more. But, I believe, everyone thought it would have been a rush (yesterday).”

The agent, who preferred to remain anonymous, also revealed that the majority of the persons who turned up for refunds were patrons of the third one-dayer on Sunday. He also added that no refund activity will be conducted on Friday due to the scheduled rally for the former South African President Nelson Mandela.
