Real Footballers are Maloney champs

REAL FOOTBALLERS proved to be just that in winning the Under-13 Division of the PowerGen/Home Construction Limited-sponsored Maloney Football League. The youngsters shut out Sexy Chicks 2-0 in the final recently, with goals from Rondel Elie and Ron Ramasary. And their striker Julio Noel won the prize for scoring first hat-trick in the division.

He also collected a prize for scoring most goals along with team-mate Nathan Lewis. They both scored five times, while runner-up was another team-mate Shobare Hamilton with four goals to his credit. But the Real Footballers were ousted 3-2 by Niners in the semi-final of the Under-18 Division. Unit whipped Niners 6-3 to lift the title in that division, with Jameel Perry scoring three, Dwayne Brooker two and Kerry Acham one.  Reon Prima got two and Desmond Whitehall the other for the losing team.

It was a three-way tie for the leading goalscorer honours in the division, with both Perry and Brooker (Unit) along with Prima (Niners) scoring five goals each. The league also honoured national and Malick striker Tanika Alexander, a Maloney Gardens resident, who was voted Footballer of the Year in the Secondary Schools Football League after scoring 45 goals last season.
