Cox wins ‘Point’ half marathon again
CURTIS COX outran his rivals in the Point Fortin half marathon to retain the Atlantic LNG Trophy, and take the $15,000 winner’s prize money. Fidelia Ramirez won the women’s category of the same race at the revived Point Fortin Games on Sunday last. Cox shaved almost eight minutes off last year’s time, completing the course in one hour, four minutes 29 seconds. For the women title, Ramirez ran the distance in one hour, 38 minutes and 56 seconds. There were 105 runners facing “starter” St Clair Natta, Mayor of Point Fortin at 6.30 am from the KTO junction.
Later, Marlon Grant, Atlantic LNG’s community relations assistant handed out trophies and cheques to the winners at a ceremony at Mahaica Oval, Point Fortin. Here are the results: Men - 1 Curtis Cox; 2 Richard Jones; 3 Errol Williams; 4 Cantos Thomas; 5 Kade Sobers; 6 Brian Maynard. Women - 1 Fidelia Ramirez; 2 Susan Garcia; 3 Carmilita Cooper; 4 Roxanne Morris; 5 Suzanna Joefield; 6 Kenisha Goodridge.
