Best in WI squad for decider

BRIDGETOWN: Fastbowler Tino Best has been named on the West ndies one-day cricket squad for the seventh and final match of the series against England at Kensington Oval tomorrow. The 22-year-old replaces fellow Barbadian, Ryan Hinds, the left-handed all-rounder in a 14-member party named by the selectors. Best has played five Tests but has not yet appeared in a limited overs international. He bowled with fire in the preceding Test series against the Englishmen, taking 12 wickets at an  average of 25.08.  Hinds, 23, was in the squad for the first six matches but did not make the final eleven for the home team.


The West Indies lead the rubber 2-1 following back-to-back victories in St Lucia over the weekend. Three matches were cancelled because of rain. “This change was not as a result of any injury. Hinds will travel with the squad from St Lucia to Barbados today (Monday), and Best will join the squad upon arrival in Barbados this afternoon,” the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced in a release. West Indies won the sixth match on Sunday by six wickets to take an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the series, and will clinch the series if they avoid defeat tomorrow The West Indies squad: Brian Lara (captain), Chris Gayle,  Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell.
