Guyanese women boxers here for Siparia showdown
Boxing Board of Trinidad and Tobago President, Melchior Taylor, yesterday welcomed a four- member Guyanese contingent here for the “Night of Battle” to be hosted by the White Eagle Boxing Gym tonight at the Siparia Sports Complex. Taylor thanked the visitors for making the journey for the Trinidad and Tobago versus “The Rest” card. Action will feature four female bouts after all eight fighters were weighed in by Boxing Board representatives. Kim “Bonecrusher” Quashie, 260 lbs, is carded to take on Shandell Parks, 309 lbs, in the main event.
Quashie leads the White Eagle camp after Iva Weston, who was scheduled to fight Geraldine Cox but has been hospitalised and is unable to take her place in the ring. White Eagle’s Crystal Lessie, 188 lbs, squares off against Sharon Antigua, 170 lbs, in the first match on the night; and Scroller Carrington, 170 lb, of White Eagle will fight Margareth Walcott, 178 lbs in the second of two six-round bouts. The lone Phoenix Boxing Gym boxer on the night Vicki Boodram, 118 lbs, meets Ann Howard, 130 lbs in a four round fight. The Quashie/Parks bout is also carded to go four rounds. General admisson is $20 in advance. The first fight begins at 8pm.
