TRINIDAD and Tobago women cricketers inflicted a 107-run thrashing of St Lucia at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, yesterday, as the West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation one-day competition continued. The 2003 double-crowned — league and knockout — queens amassed 210 runs for six wickets off their allotted 50 overs with Nelly Williams topscoring with 61, while Shane De Silva chipped in with 46 and Envis Williams an unbeaten 39.
St Lucia were never in the hunt and were dismissed for 103 in reply with Felicia Cummings taking four wickets for 16 runs. St Vincent also recorded a comfortable 87-run triumph over Grenada at Pierre Road, Charlieville. West Indies player Juliana Nero scored 60 as the Vincentians scored 176 for nine wickets. The Grenadians were skittled out for 89 in response with Cordel Jack grabbing three for 14. And Guyana grabbed an exciting one-run win over Jamaica at Inshan Ali Park, Preysal. The Guyanese reached 142 for five wickets in 46 overs with Faye Franklin hitting 37 and Abina Parker 23. But Jamaicans could only manage 141 for seven wickets in their 46 overs, falling two runs short of the victory target of 143. Patrice Cuffie hit 41.
