Blame wicked and lawless parents

THE EDITOR: Permit me a little space to speak on crime, wickedness and lawlessness taking place in Trinidad and Tobago and around the world. How do you react to these situations, the question is asked. The answer is with you, the reader. Since I was a little boy and to my present age, I have seen and witnessed things that cause terror in the world. For example, there are parents who agree with their children and some who disagree with what they are doing. Some for better, some for worse. As children grow up they are supposed to be taught manners, respect and decency. Many parents and children are lacking in this and grow up ignorant, illiterate and with the wrong attitude and they end up the wrong way.

Who causes these children to become who they are? It is some of you wicked and lawless parents. Parents have a lot to do in nurturing a child not to go astray. For example, many parents sit with their children watching all kinds of movies/shows/ with killing, robbery, sex, drugs, raping, violence, obscene language and many more things which are not right for children to see. Some parents buy toy guns for their children to play with, these children point these guns in all directions and shoot “Pow! Pow!” When they become older they want a real gun and they point it to their target shooting ”Bang! Bang! (killing innocent people). Some people buy all kinds of video games with all kinds of fighting, giving their children things which they are not supposed to get. Some children get too much.

You, the reader, think about it. In the school many things are happening with these children; they become wayward. Some parents allow their children to do so many things which are not good for them. When a mother or father attempts to discipline a child, either one of them would say, leave the child (he or she) is small, he or she will grow out of it. In these times, they will not grow out of it. It will grow into them, and they will become who they are. When these children become teenagers parents allow them to go and have fun, go and have a nice time. But, sorry to say this, they end up in bad times and then the problem begins. These children become alcoholics, drug addicts, prostitutes and wayward children. You people will say look what happened to my child. What happened and why. Too late that child has gone astray.

That child has brought shame and disgrace to himself and family. What will be their future? Many parents leave their children to do wrong things and do not check up on them and by the time you check up on them it is too late. Many people are saying they have a culture, you people better think twice before saying that. There are all kinds of vulgar songs these children are listening to, some of them are getting on as if they are crazy. The clothes they are wearing they are almost naked. Many parents themselves want to be in style.

Their children will do likewise. Because of not showing and teaching the child the right way, they end up pregnant, abused, in hospital, in prison and some die at a young age. Parents and society must show examples for children to follow so they would be better people in society with manners, respect and the right attitude. What you show is what you will reap. As a believer in the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and what is written in the Bible, I would like to share some verses with you. There are many things written to heed God’s warnings and his teachings.

Prov 22:13 — “Train a child in the fear of the Lord and he shall never depart from it” Almighty God disciplines his people. He also disciplines a nation, so some of you parents must discipline yourself and young children and they would live a life of prosperity which will lead them in the right direction. In this world there are many parents/children without a shelter. Some not well (sick), some without a proper meal, without clothing, without clean water, and without many other needs, most of all without love. Parents and children, love. The Almighty God loved all of us, he showed his love by sending His Son Jesus Christ to save the world.

You the reader decide. As we are God’s creation let us follow his teaching and heed his warning. Most of all obeying what is written for us so we could save ourselves and our children. These are only but a few comments I have written. I am very positive that there are many other comments by other people on parents and children. We are all God’s creation. If we keep on disobeying the Almighty God well then, prepare for the consequences!
