Starworld set pace in Pro League

STARWORLD Strikers continue to set the pace in the senior division of the T&T Pro League when they cruised past South West Drillers 2-0 at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground on Sunday. New recruit Randolph Jerome, who moved from North East Stars to Starworld during the off-season, netted both goals in the sixth and 67th minutes. The Guyanese striker scored from crosses by Errol Charles and Wesley Webb respectively. North East Stars overtook W Connection for second spot with a 2-0 triumph over the former league champs at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground.

Anthony Wolfe opened the scoring for the hosts after 18 minutes with Guyanese midfielder Carey Harris getting the second goal in the 41st. Defence Force are alone in fourth place in the eight-team standings. This after a 1-1 draw against defending champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. The prolific Otis Seaton (Aurtis Whitley) put Jabloteh in front in the 12th minute before veteran midfielder Marvin Gordon equalised for the Army-Coast Guard combination in the 43rd. And Arima/Morvant Fire maintained their rich vein of form with a 3-0 whipping of Tobago United at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet. Romauld Aguillera, Abdullah Phillip and Brent Antoine were on target for the firemen.
