TT women retain WI one-day title
LED by an unbeaten 57 by opener Nelly Williams, Trinidad and Tobago women cricketers retained the West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation (WIWCF) one-day title with a seven-wicket victory over St Lucia in yesterday’s finale. The St Lucians won the toss and batted at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, and were dismissed for 115 on the final ball of the mandatory 50 overs.
Their West Indies star Verena Felicien topscored with 27, while Doris Francis chipped in with 15 and Philipa Thomas 12. Spinner Jade Chadee collected three wickets for 30 runs while pacer Envis Williams took two for 17. Trinidad and Tobago had little trouble in reaching the target set, reaching 116 for three with 12.3 overs to spare.
