Connection youngsters stay on top
DEFENDING Champs W Conn-ection retained their lead in both the Under-20 and U-14 Divisions of the TT Pro League when action continued recently. The Savonetta-based outfit handed Tobago United a 5-1 trouncing in their fourth round U-20 contest at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Balmain, Couva on Thursday. And in U-14 action on Saturday, the Connection youngsters eased by North East Stars 3-0 at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground. In the Tobago fixture, Hughton Hector netted a hat-trick for the winners while Shane Calderon and Kennedy Hinkson got the others, with Noel Williams scoring the consolation item for the lads from the sister isle.
Also on Thursday, Starworld Strikers cruised past Defence Force 2-0 with goals from Sadiki Stewart and Jamal Ayres. North East Stars, with Keston Pierre and Kitwana Abosi on target, eased past South West Drillers 2-0 at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground. Jabloteh joined Connection in second spot in the Under-20 Division after they hammered the Arima/ Morvant Fire 4-0 on Friday. Connection maintained their advantage in the Under-14 category after Shandon Winchester got a double and Keron Gray the other in their triumph over North East. And it got no better for the hosts in the Under-16 contest, as they were thrashed 7-0 with Keron Smith registering a beaver-trick for Connection while Shervon Frederick, Kirt Williams and Kemuel Rivers got one apiece.
Jabloteh’s Under-14 squad also recorded a 7-0 win, against Defence Force at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Franz Husbands put his name on the scoresheet four times for Jabloteh while Marvin Baptiste, Chike Sullivan and Kevin Eastman netting one each. But the Teteron lads fared much better in the U-16s as they held Jabloteh to a 2-2 draw with strikes from Kwesi Bruno and Keron Floyd, while Kadeem Gibbs and Michael Brown were the Jabloteh scorers. In the other Under-14/Under-16 doubleheader on Saturday, contested at the Palo Seco Recreation Grounds, South West Drillers and Starworld Strikers played to a 1-1 draw in the former and a goalless draw in the later fixture.
