Burke unbeaten in t-tennis trials
EX-NATIONAL champ Reeza Burke whipped five rivals as the third table tennis trials continued at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo. And Shellyann Wilson beat all but Astra Edwards on the women side of the trials on Saturday. Burke first whipped Khellon Roach, then Aaron Edwards, Courtney Pugh, Anthony “Sandfly” Brown and Curtis Humphrey. Brown won four of his matches to finish runner-up to Burke, while Roach had a 3-2 record and Edwards 2-3.
After his encounter with Burke, Pugh was forced to withdraw from further action with an injury. Edwards who gave Wilson her only defeat, managed just two victories, however, losing three matches. Wilson had beaten teammate Marilyn Lewis who finished with a three-win, two-defeat record, in three exciting sets. Linda Partap-Boodhan and Lewis finished runners-up to Wilson, while both Natalie Montes and Edwards were 2-3. Arnold Felix won the lower-level category, while Anson Wellington was runner-up.
