Valdez and Torry team wins breast cancer golf

The Valdez and Torry sponsored team of Cynthia Legall and Angela Hodgkinson were the winners the two-ball/better ball fifth annual Scotiabank Women Against Breast Cancer Golf Tournament. The tournament was contested at the St Andrew’s Golf Club in Moka last Tuesday. The pair emerged atop a record field of 46 female golfers from across Trinidad and Tobago all sponsored by members of the corporate community in aid of the Women Against Breast Cancer Fund.

This has been set up to establish screening clinics throughout the country. Scotiabank’s Assistant Manager, Public and Corporate Affairs, Marlene Chin expressed  appreciation of the support received over the last five years. To date the tournament has contributed $134,000 toward the fund. The Scotiabank Women Against Breast Cancer 5K Classic on Saturday, September 18 is the next effort by the bank to lend their resources to ensuring that every woman in need of a mammogram can have one whether or not she can afford it.
