Sellier pedals two records at Arima

TEENAGE cyclist Christopher Sellier stole the spotlight as the Computer Power and Supplies-sponsored National Cycling Championships began at the Arima Velodrome on Wednesday night. In front of a handful of spectators, Sellier set two championship junior records, in the flying 200 metres and the kilometre time trial. In the flying 200, Sellier crossed the finish line in 11.85 seconds, erasing the previous mark of 12.00 seconds set by his current coach, former national star Gene “Geronimo” Samuel. Haseem McLean was second in 12.27 with Jude Codrington third in 13.54.

And, in the kilo time trial, Sellier was in sizzling form, as he clocked one minute 10.76 seconds, bettering the former standard of 1:11.10 set by Ricky Alonzo in 1978. Once again, McLean had to settle for second spot in 1:13.40 while Jonathan Rawlins was next in 1:20.52.
