The only protection
THE EDITOR: I am concerned about my colleagues that are into martial arts. It hurts to see them gunned down on the streets. Don’t ever think it is an end in itself; you can be a black belt or red belt but that does not matter, you’re no match for the bullet. I did not say you should not practice, for the exercise is good, beneficial and is a discipline which is worthwhile. But let it be known that if the Lord does not build a house they that build it do it in vain, likewise, if the Lord doesn’t watch the city the watchman watcheth in vain.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world whose main aim is to steal, kill and destroy. But the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds. As it is written “The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Church.” So when it comes down to where the rubber meets the road the only true protection is divine protection. Some trust in chariots, others in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God — for the name of the Lord is a strong tower the righteous run into and they find shelter.
