Joseph (6/14) wrecks UWI in Courts Inter-Zone

NORTH have reached the finals of the Courts Inter-Zone Cricket series. They did so despite rain which intervened and prevented them from scoring a convincing win over UWI in the final Group “A” match on Thursday at UWI Ground, St Augustine. Sent in to bat, UWI were skittled out for just 97 in 33 overs. Left-arm spinner and vice-captain Francis Joseph was the chief destroyer taking six wickets for 14 runs in eight overs.

He was ably assisted by captain Ashick Ali with two wickets for four runs. Just as North were about to reply, the heavens opened and washed out any further play. The one point from the abandoned match took North to four points, the same as Tobago. But North went through to the finals having beaten Tobago by nine wickets at Shaw Park nine days ago. North will now meet South in the Inter-Zone finals carded for Monday at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva.
