Banks replaces ‘Tadpole’ for Second Test

CASTRIES: Offspinner Omari Banks was included in the West Indies cricket squad for the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Kingston, Jamaica, beginning on Friday. Banks replaced Trinidad and Tobago left-arm wrist spinner Dave “Tadpole” Mohammed in a 13-man squad announced by the West Indies selectors yesterday after the First Test was drawn. Mohammad did not make the starting XI at Beausejour Stadium.

Banks, recently recovered from a stress fracture of his back, took four wickets in a first-class match against the Bangladeshis in St Vincent a week ago. He was the captain of his native Anguilla in the current Leeward Islands championship. Allrounder Banks played the last of his five Tests on last November’s tour of Zimbabwe. But he missed the following tour of South Africa after being struck down with the back injury.
