Sinnette, de Gannes main medal hopes

Trinidad and Tobago are preparing to host the Caribbean Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) Championships which will run from June 6 to 13 at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo. Newsday continues with profiles of  some members of the national contingent keen on winning gold medals against the best of the Caribbean on home soil. KIRT SINNETTE was the Caribbean Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) lightweight champion from 1997-1997, a period during which he was named “Fighter of the Tournament” three years in a row and was in the first round of  the 2000 Olympiad. Sinnette is a seven time National Lightweight champion and appearances in the 2004 Pan American Games and the Olympic trials combined with a training stint in Cuba can almost ensure his preparedness ahead of CABA.

JULES DE GANNES of Revival Boxing Gym appeared at the 200 Pan American Games and trained in Cuba the same year. he reigned supreme as the National Junior Lightweight Champion from 1997-2002 and has captured CABA silver in Barbados 1999 and bronze in Jamaica 2000. At CABA 2004 he competes in the 132-lb weight division and has been dubbed one of the most promising fighters in CABA by Amateur Boxing Board of Trinidad and Tobago sources.
