National Super League boots off
DEFENDING champs L-Sporto Connection start the defence of their title against Maraval Youth Academy in the second match of today’s double-header programme, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, when the 2004 National Super League begins. Kick off is timed for 8.30 pm, but before this, Superstar Rangers will oppose Medianet East San Juan United two hours earlier. But the league will officially get going from 4 pm, with Police meeting Club Sando at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
There are 14 teams in the two-round league, vying for the winners’ guaranteed jackpot of $70,000 while the runners-up will receive $40,000. First round of matches will continue tomorrow with Moruga hosting Biwater Stokelyvale at the Otis Memorial Park at 3.30 pm, Caroni facing WASA Clean & White at Brechin Castle, Couva, from 4 pm, and the “Eastern Lions” Joe Public playing Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna, from 5 pm and, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Harvard and Carib will square off from 6 pm.
