Outwitting the mail thieves

THE EDITOR: In the Sunday Newsday of May 30, you printed a letter from Marilyn John of Champ Fleurs regarding the theft of magazines posted to her. Unfortunately this has been going on for many years, long before TTPost came to Trinidad. I used to subscribe to a woman’s magazine and my friend to a firm which supplied paper dress patterns. We already received a 12-month supply and on contacting the various companies they confirmed that our material had been sent on a regular basis. As the companies concerned used clear plastic envelopes we asked if they would use plain brown envelopes instead and explained the reason why. They complied with our request and thereafter we received our mail monthly. This did not happen in only one area as I live in Arouca and my friend lived in Maracas Valley. Clearly a case of ‘What the eye does not see, it does not covet.’
