Top Of The Class in lively spin

RACING at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, takes a brief respite this weekend. But trainers continued to get their charges prepared for the forthcoming 10-race Labour Day, June 19 programme. And local triple crown winner Top Of The Class appears on course to take the Stud Farm Association National Stakes over 1800 metres. The Glenn Mendez-trained star looked very lively in stepping 1000 metres in the good time of 1:02.62 seconds, and was relishing the sloppy underfoot conditions.

But the best gallop over this trip yesterday morning was clocked by Millenium Reign and Fabulous Risk who missed his last engagement. They came back in 1:02.31 seconds. Caribbean Kiss, a winner last time out, had a good gallop over 800 metres timed in 48.36 seconds, and Cat Woman was best over 600 metres clocking 40.49 seconds for the outing. Living In Hope was a shade slower for the same trip, galloping home in 40.53 seconds, while Silver Bullet who created a very favourable impression in his first outing on a racetrack, finishing third behind Yashoda and Sweet N’Beautiful, stopped the clock at 40.79 for the 600 metres trip.
