Police post at the Tunnel

THE EDITOR: Please publish this letter to Mr Franklyn Khan, Minister of Works and Transport. Dear Mr Khan, I would like to express my commendations and appreciation to your Ministry for widening the tunnel as well as making the Santa Cruz bridge a double lane. I am a resident of the Santa Cruz area and welcome the ease in traffic flow that these measures will brig.

In relation to the widening of the North Coast Tunnel, may I humbly suggest that while you have the heavy equipment available that some physical facility be established at that site to take a “Police Outpost” (eg Mobile Unit). This facility can be furnished with an electrical supply. At a moment’s notice a police road block can be established to help in the war on crime should any major crime take place. This can also serve vital in the fight on drug trafficking on the North Coast roads. I trust that you would share the vision and benefit this measure will bring to our nation.
