Welcome home, Danielle
THE EDITOR: Welcome home Ms Danielle Jones, Trinidad and Tobago’s delegate at the Miss Universe 2004 pageant held in Quito, Ecuador. Ms Jones placed fourth runner-up at the 2004 pageant having come through the top 15 semi-finalists and top five finalists. Ms Jones placed third in the national costume pageant, which would have placed her among the top finalists, a job well done, Danielle. On her arrival at Piarco Airport, among the many dignitaries to greet her was Ms Yuille-Williams Minister of Community Development and Culture; she brought greetings on behalf of the Government.
This is a triumph for Miss Trinidad and Tobago. She spoke about being overwhelmed by the pageant and about the new friends she met. Danielle was one of the more photographed delegates who came from Trinidad and Tobago at the international pageant. Other delegates who have represented us have either captured the crown or made it to the finals. Ms Janelle Commissiong our first delegate and first black woman to capture the international crown in July 1977. She was followed by Ms Giselle La Ronde Miss World in 1986, and followed by Ms Wendy Fitzwilliam in 1998. To Danielle Jones wishing her all the best in her future endeavours.
