Jamaican stars in Pro League

W-Connection boss David John-Williams has praised Jamaican defender Robert Scarlett for an outstanding start to his campaign in Trinidad and Tobago’s Professional Football League (PFL).  Scarlett, playing his second PFL match, scored one of W-Connection’s goals as they ran past SouthWest Drillers 5-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Wednesday. “He has been at left wing back but he is a very offensive player and gets forward very often in attack,” Williams told CMC Sport.

Scarlett, Brazilian Luciano Viera, Kendall Davis (2) and Kevon Clement got the goals for the former champions as they climbed to fourth in the standings — with the win — on 16 points, only two behind leaders Starworld Strikers. “Personally, I am surprised that he is not in the Jamaica (national) team, when I see the quality of his game and his energy level. He has good endurance and fantastic speed,” Williams said.  Scarlett is one of five Jamaicans currently on the W-Connection roster. The others are Jermaine Hue, Lovell Palmer, Chris Harvey and Oneil Thompson. (CMC)
