Lendore win Maha Sabha sports title

LENDORE HINDU School showed off their athletic skills at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, on Saturday, and emerged winners of the inaugural Maha Sabha Schools Sports Meeting, convincingly  sweeping aside all opposition on their way to the tittle. The Ramsingh’s Sports World-sponsored games was a tremendous success with 47 Primary and Secondary Schools participating with the full blessings of the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Education.

Top officials of the Maha Sabha Schools Board of Management including secretary general Sat Maharaj as well as visiting Swami from Bhanpura, India, His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Ji Maharah. Maharaj in his address paid tribute to the Nal Ramsingh, CEO of Ramsingh’s Sports World for “his drive and initiative in involving the Hindu Schools in the area of sports, which would aid in the holistic development of the child. “It was the first effort of its  kind for the 47  Hindu schools in the country, and for that we will always remember the generosity of the sponsors and the fact that it would help in making a positive impact  in the all round development of the children and this must always be an integral aspect of our vision.”
     
Schools Supervisor III, Caroni, Manchoon Sooknanan represented the Ministry of Education and Charles Branche, advisor to the Sports Minister represented the Ministry of Sports. The March past of teams was a colourful spectacle with 44 of the 47 schools on parade, with music supplied by the TT Regiment Band. Saraswatee Girls’ College with 285 points marched off winners with Palmyra Hindu School (282 points) runners-up. Penal Rock Hindu School (281 points) were third.

Zonal march past winners were: CENTRAL ZONE — 1. Saraswatee Girls; 2. Orange Field Hindu; 3. Spring Vale Hindu.
NORTH ZONE —  TWO tied for the 1. Tunapuna Hindu and Aranguez Hindu, tied; 2, Riverside and Arima tied; 5. El Dorado Hindu.
SOUTH ZONE — 1. Penal Rock; 2. Tulsa Trace; 3. Delhi Road.
SOUTH EAST ZONE — 1. Palmyra Hindu; 2. Gasparillo Hindu; 3. Reform Hindu.
