New ideas for black youth

THE EDITOR: Why do so many of our young, black males feel alienated in this country? Is it for ignorance of great African emperors and kings? We need to lead our youth away from hate and establish a national dialogue on love. We must demand honesty from the media and politicians. We must now set the example against the ignorance and mediocrity of our political leadership. We let them loose their tongues to ferment and to fan their fires of hate. It’s a case of poorly educated misleaders who, since 1970, have laboured hard to foster the minds of innocent children on hatred, on grievance, or reparations, on vengeance and on a blinding narrow racial view of our past. The efforts of our misleaders have borne bitter fruit.

We must teach the youth the truth, and canvass new ideas instead of anti-colonial populist socialist jargon as policy. We have to abandon the emotional world of Dr Eric Williams “The Negro in the Caribbean” who programmed the country to redistribute wealth, not to create it. And the political propaganda of the history of the people of TT. We have to abandon the culture of lies and corrupt duplicity, and instead build on the foundations of our western liberal traditions.
