W CONNECTION climbed to the top spot of the Under-14 and Under-16 Divisions in the T&T Pro League, following respective 4-0 and 8-0 hammerings of South West Drillers at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. In the Under-14 encounter over the weekend, the “Savonetta lads” got a hat-trick from Isiah Smith, in the eighth, 50th and 58th minutes, and a first minute strike from Keron Gray. And in the second match of the double-header, Matthew Bartholomew (41st, 56th and 89th) and Keron Smith (60th, 62nd and 80th) each netted hat-tricks while Bevon Bass (44th and 48th) scored the other two. Starworld Strikers were also comfortable winners on the day, whipping North East Stars 3-0 in the Under-14s and 6-0 in the Under-16s at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. But persistent rain and a soggy outfield resulted in the cancellation of the Arima/Morvant Fire-Defence Force doubleheader, scheduled for the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima.
