Small man should also be rewarded

THE EDITOR: I view with great concern and resentment the easy passage, with no hint of obstruction, government ministers, state officials etc continue to receive hefty increases in salaries, perks and allowances. The gap between the haves and have nots continues to widen as the already prosperous in society continue to share the spoils of a stable and healthy economy. The lesser in society have to beg, toil and contend with Government appointed obstructionists, such as the CPO, to get crumbs and deny us what we truly deserve. It seems that only the top bracket of our society has bills to pay, families to maintain and vacation leave to enjoy. I want the authorities to know that the vast majority is looking on and continues to absorb the punishment meted out to us as we are forced to manage with chicken feed wages.

I have never seen the already mighty in society offered buy-outs or cut backs, it seems that they alone know what the power of money is. If people felt that 1990 was frightening and crime and violence was sky-high, this was one of the reasons for it, unreasonable and biased governance. The crime wave and violence would only increase as the vast majority continues to be subjected to harsh and unreasonable treatment. I am warning those in authority that the small man in society is making valuable contributions which should be recognised and rewarded and not be one sided in the distribution of the country’s wealth. Failure to do that would be catastrophic.
