NFM rout Raptors in North Zone basketball

National Flour Mills (NFM) continued their strong bid for the 2004 North Zone Basketball League’s First Division crown with a 91-85 rout of league debutantes Marabella Raptors. The match was played on Wednesday at the St Paul’s Street Sport Facility in Port-of-Spain. Raptors’ Ako Pascal scored a season high 34 points and Damian Caton put in 18 with six rebounds and two assists. But their efforts were in vain as David King (three three-pointer) and Jason Delisle (12 rebounds) put in 17 points each. Ronaldo Lett scored 19 points but his match-high tally could not help Second Division Royal Extra Lions from falling 75-63 to Celtics in the opening match of the evening. Brian Laborde put in 16 points for Lions but 16 each from Darron Erin and Urban Smith and 11 from Kensley Sandy saw Celtics appearing in the winner’s column at the final whistle.
