Armed bandits take safe, SUV from Cuban Ambassador’s home
Cuban Ambassador Raul Rojas was held up at his St Anthony’s Drive, Westmoorings home around midnight Friday by three gunmen. The bandits took away a safe containing a quantity of cash, while his Honda SUV was stolen. It was found burnt at Bagatelle yesterday. Reports revealed that around midnight Rojas and Cuban doctor Alberto Luis were liming around the swimming pool area of the house, when three men jumped the wall, pointed a gun at Ambassador Rojas and ordered him to open a safe located inside the house.
The bandits took the safe containing a quantity of US dollars. They then took the keys to a vehicle belonging to Ambassador Rojas and escaped. A report was made to the Four Roads Police Station and a party of officers went to the scene. The Ambassador and Dr Luis were interviewed and prints were lifted from the scene. The Cuban Ambassador was reported to be shaken up by the robbery. Snr Supt Gonzales, Sgt Stephen Ramsubhag, and PCs John and Charles visited the scene. Investigations are continuing.
